The Willie Run
​I am a person of many interests. One of those interests is alternative energy sources. Another is automobiles. Yet another is outlaw country music. And yet another is late-20th century films about cars.
​
There were enough other people at Fitzco with overlapping interests to form a team and come up with a fun idea to promote Willie Nelson's alternative fuel: "BioWillie Biodiesel."
​
The idea: The Willie Run—a two-day, non-stop driving exhibition, from Manhattan to Santa Monica, like the original Cannonball Run.
We didn't break the speed record. But we did cross the United States burning zero gallons of petroleum in almost 3000 miles. We also completed was was likely the first ever coast-to-coast livestream. ​​
